Rush for new Russian domains for ccTLD .?? at InterNetX PDF Print E-mail

REGENSBURG – Half a million .?? domains have been registered within the shortest time since registration went public on November 11, 2010. Previously, registration of these IDNs was restricted to trademark owners and government organizations. The Cyrillic characters .?? stand for the initials of the Russian Federation. These popular Russian IDNs have been available at InterNetX since their introduction - with resounding success. InterNetX responded to the unexpected rush for this TLD from the largest country on earth with a special offer for .?? domains.

The registry for the TLD .RU was expecting far less interest and had only estimated around 100.000 registered domains by the end of 2010. A black list containing 4023 taboo words was published simultaneously to the introduction of .??, in order to avoid the registration of vulgar Russian words.

“Our TLD portfolio is growing steadily. With .?? domains, we can finally meet the needs of our Russian-speaking customers optimally. We are positively surprised and happy about the boom. InterNetX is offering a special price, to help maintain the continuing success of the Russian IDNs,” announced Hakan Ali, Director of Sales and Marketing at InterNetX. High registration numbers for Russian IDNs therefore seem very likely in the near future.

REGENSBURG – The German registrar InterNetX has widened its extensive domain repertoire to include another TLD from southern Africa. InterNetX now delivers global access to Lesotho’s online space with the subTLDs .CO.LS and .ORG.LS.

The parliamentary monarchy, landlocked into South Africa, is often called “The Kingdom in the Sky” on account of its high altitude and is famous for its unique indigenous culture and rich diamond deposits. The Internet business is picking up speed too, with an increase in websites and rising interest in the country’s TLD. It’s the perfect time to secure a piece of Lesotho’s online market and register .CO.LS and .ORG.LS domains – especially since there are no restrictions on the registration of these subTLDs from Lesotho.

As one of the leading international registrars – with more than 300 ccTLDs and gTLDs in supply  – InterNetX can offer numerous exotic TLDs alongside conventional domain products. Experts in the branch value the diverse range at InterNetX and use the opportunity to also register domain names with unusual TLDs like .CO.LS and .ORG.LS in the domain management software AutoDNS 3.0.

REGENSBURG, Germany – "Opportunities multiply as they are seized!“ What smart economic leaders obviously adopt from the Chinese strategist Sun Tzu works for the domain industry as well. The current launch of the new TLD .CO is such an opportunity. At the first public .CO auction the premium domain e.co realized the price of impressive 81,000 USD. Although the proceeds go to a charitable cause this result gives reason for hope to make good profit with .CO domains in the future.

The crucial phase for .CO domains starts with the Landrush period on June 21, 2010. Then interested parties worldwide can apply for attractive domains under .CO at one of the ten accredited .CO registrars.
