Over 750 domains hijacked in attack on Gandi

DomainIncite DomainIncite: Gandi saw 751 domains belonging to its customers hijacked and redirected to malware delivery sites, the French registrar reported earlier this month. The attack saw the perpetrators obtain Gandi’s password for a gateway provider, which it did not name, that acts as an intermediary to 34 ccTLD registries including .ch, .se and .es. The registrar […]

Domain Shane’s Daily List of Domains at Auction for Monday July 17th

Domain Shane Domain Shane:

One thing that bothers me in the US is the thought that children that are handed things by their parents haven’t earned what they have because they were give a head start or leg up.  There are a lot of “legs up” in this world from a better education, a lucky break, where you are located.  There are just as many stories of people that were given an entity and drove it into the ground as there are of people that continued the success or made it better.  But when you given a valuable asset people bring out the silver spoon description.
A good example that most of you didn’t even realize is David Benioff.  One of the creators of Game of Thrones.  Dave’s real name is actually David Friedman.   David’s father is the former chairman of Goldman Sachs, Steven Friedman,  and at one point in time, one of the most important men in Finance.   He made tens if not hundreds of millions of dollars over the years.   Did Steven give him money to finance the show?  I don’t know.  But he certainly gave David an opportunity to get a great education and pursue his dream of being a writer without ever having to worry about how to pay the bills.  That gift gave us the Game of Thrones.  A phenomenon that has become a part of most of our lives over the years.  And all because he came from a wealthy family that gave him a “leg up”.
When I am in New York I have stayed with the Friedmans a few times(my friend is part of the family) and had a good talk about the pressures of being the next generation. The pressure is greater to succeed because the bar is set so high.  I talked about the responsibilities of having a 5th generation business and all the employees.   If I succeeded,  I was supposed to, if I failed I had all the advantages and I still failed.    It was great to talk to a family that understood it better than anyone.  David ended the talk with Game of Thrones.  He would always be known as the person that started GOT and not as Steven Friedman’s son.  He changed his name so he wouldn’t be known.  He wanted his own identity.  I tripled the sales of my company.  Not quite GOT but I too got to the point where it was now mine and I was no longer thought of as the son but as a separate owner.  We both got out of a shadow and now cast our own.  He just has a tens of millions of dollars stacked to make his shadow.  And mine is a large shrub. Here are today’s names.

Recent Domain Sales That Have Been Developed (pics): ü.com, HouseAlarms.com, More

Domain Shane Domain Shane: I missed this post yesterday as I just got back from four days of volunteer trail building in the Maroon Bells Wilderness area outside of Aspen, with a couple pictures below. It’s hard work, but the scenery is amazing.

The screenshots below are examples of buyers of domains from the past few months that have either developed their sites, or purchased an upgrade domain and have redirected their acquisition to an existing website.
HarvestProperties.com sold for $12,500  at DomainMarket, and the domain was an upgrade from the .net for the California-based real estate firm. They describe themselves as, “a vertically-integrated, full-service commercial real estate investment firm that specializes in the acquisition, repositioning, development and management of commercial property, primarily through joint-venture investments throughout Northern California. “

ü.com (IDN) sold for $7,500 at Sedo, and the owner is Hüseyin Ülkü, with an address in Germany. I can’t entirely follow the site, but it appears to be a tire brand or tire seller.

Dolares.com sold for $5,200 at RightOfTheDot/ NameJet, and with a quick glance of the Spanish language site, it appears to be an informational site that isn’t too robust.

HouseAlarms.com sold for $5,000 at RightOfTheDot/ NameJet, and per Whois, the owner is domainer Christian Calvin, who we have discussed previously as the seller of Mortgage.info and Convict.com. You get exactly what you expect at this site, with product costs ranging from about $3.00 to over $1,500.

ChefSache.com sold for $2,725 at Sedo, and domain was an upgrade from Chef-Sache.ch, which is in the catering and restaurant supply business.

Domain Shane’s Daily List of Domains at Auction for Sunday July 16th

Domain Shane Domain Shane:

In the quest to find my next home (and do a little business) I’m traveling through Colorado.   The people of Colorado are a little different than those in Illinois.  Not quite as big and a little more outdoorsy.   The big exchange is that housing is 5 times the price.   You certainly are exchanging an improvement in environment for a rise in cost.   And like domains, I’m a little late to the party but I’m thinking someone will say the same about my purchase.   The other choice is the mountains of North Carolina with Mr. Berkens which gives you a much bigger bang for your buck.   I have a little while to decide as we have to see where the kid goes to school and if it cost anything.  Its zero to $280,000 which changes the housing market with a decision.
I will say Colorado is beautiful and its the first time in 5 months I’ve had two days in a row off.  I think I need to get into the startup game like Morgan Linton.  He seems to be off on weekends and gets to visit all these beautiful places.  I seem to be working 80 hours a week and do nothing but work.   I just have to sell a few more petunias and domains and I’ll get to relax a bit more.  Have a great Sunday.  Here are today’s names. Click for most recent price
Quote of the Day: “  I am not a product of my circumstances. I am a product of my decisions”  -Stephen Covey
Domain of the Day:  Brexit.biz    Already has a few bids on this headline keyword.  And Brexit is going to have a huge impact on biznesses
Namejet Auctions
ProtectLab.com  CyberSecurity or home security is my first thought
SuperSoles.com   Every shoe store I go into tries to add on sale a pair of insoles
HarvestCafe.com   Upgrade name for a number of places
RNOF.com  I like the O in the third position because it stands for of.  Something of Florida
MotorTech.com   IMO this is a figure five figure name
Pimba.com   Not a bad little 5L.com
PV.tv   Two letter dot tvs aren’t getting any love
Chomped.com    I like this one more than everyone else. Good one word domain that can be food or pet or more
BridalStars.com   Get it cheap enough and I think its a good wedding name
Sedo Domains at Auction
VRVD.com  Get a hot technology and a sexual disease all in one domain
Me.at   Getting close to reserve but not cheap.
Godaddy Domains That I Like With Multiple Bids
Monti.net  20 year old name.  Enough businesses and people share the name that the next should have some value
BPack.com  If A pack doesn’t quite work. 20 years old and already 17 bids
75077.com   Like usual.  A numeric has one of the top prices
BackyardWeddings.com  The most popular place for a wedding.  Still not cheap
ModernMaterials.com    The name at least makes you feel like you’re getting good quality
LivePlace.com   The firs thing that comes to mind is a site like Google Hangouts or a Periscope type site
EternalDreams.com   Sounds  lovely although it also sounds a little like death.  1999 domain
GoldByte.com   The safety of gold and the tech of the byte
Geekers.com  All the bidders show that we’re still using the term Geek
BitCoinNetworks.com   Bitcoin is going to be hot for a while.  Might as well keep an eye on the domains that reference it.

Unimoney.com    I think I got some of this by registering names at Uniregistry
SecretSecret.com   Actually has some bids.  Double secret
LoudPack.com   Has the most bids on the GD board today.  Maybe hoping Loud Paack will buy it

Domains That I Like With One or No Bids

[g]BeSeen.com[/g]  Could hit five figures

[g]AlphaMassage.com[/g]   20 years old.   Alpa male or just first in the Greek alphabet

[g]Koxax.com[/g]  5L with no bids
