This company is happy with its three-letter domain, which cost less than it offered to pay for its longer full brand name in .com.

Luxe Du Jour got a three-letter domain for less than it was willing to pay for its full brand name domain.

Here’s an interesting end user domain name purchase story.

Luxury goods seller Luxe Du Jour started in Canada with the domain name LuxeDuJour.ca.

It sounds like the business is going well. But the company ran into a hitch when it expanded to the United States: its .ca domain wouldn’t cut it anymore.

The obvious solution was to buy LuxeDuJour.com.

In a Tik Tok video (embedded below), Tammy Phan, CEO of the luxury goods company, said her company offered $100,000 to buy the .com from the blogger that uses the domain. They were rebuffed, but ended up with a shorter domain for less: LDJ.com.

Phan says they paid $80,000 to get the short domain.

And in a follow up video, Phan said getting a .com was critical for the business.
