While I have done my own research on whom owned the domain name, it wasn’t the owner of Shopping.com as he mentions in the video or at least that I can connect any dot’s too.
Runna.com was registered way back on the 27th of March 2003, it was first setup as a directory website with the below taken from the archive.org history (Click Here)

It appears was under the ownership of Mark Hallett until it expired, the original website was built in 2003 and didn’t get updated for over 10 years, in 2014 it went to a domain suspension page from its hosting and the website went offline subsequently the domain name expired and was sold via NameJet on 5th of May 2014 for $122 USD.
At this point it was picked up by a domain name registrant from China (Thanks To Our Sponsor – WhoisXMLApi.com – Check Who Has Registered Domains Previously).
What we can see doing the Historic and Reverse Whois on the email address registered to the domain Runna.com between 2014 – 2022 it was someone whom owned mainly a portfolio of .CN domain names – The domain name was listed for sale on Chinese domain resale landing platform Golden Name Network (4.cn) and it appears that this might have been where the domain name negotiations might have started.
